    Maximum Performance Yoga trains teachers to lead our workouts at the gyms, schools, pools, fields and beaches where student athletes play. MPY will also be offering online video training for individual athletes and teachers.

    According to StopSportsInjuries.org, more than 2 million injuries are sustained annually by high school athletes in the US due to overuse, year-round play and antiquated training methods.
     
    We think it's time for training in youth sports to evolve. Don't you?

  • WHO WE ARE

     

    Nathan Friedkin

    Founder
    After experiencing firsthand the benefits of a steady power yoga practice and sharing that practice with his athletic sons, MPY Founder Nathan Friedkin began to research the connection between yoga and athletic performance. Two points quickly became clear: 
     
    1. Yoga was already being used at the highest levels to help professional and Olympic athletes prevent injuries and perform their best.
     
    2. Instances of injuries in youth sports were skyrocketing at unprecendented levels.
     
    Having spent 8 years coaching his sons' teams, Nathan decided that it was time to bring the benefits of yoga training to young athletes on a wide scale. Calling on 15 plus years of experience as a video producer and project manager, he assembled a team of yoga teachers who shared his vision and Maximum Performance Yoga® was born.
     
     

    Jessi McMaster

    Lead Yoga Teacher – MPY SoCal
    While Jessi McMaster spent years testing her body's limits in competitive sports and fitness, it was yoga that taught her how to truly connect to her body and focus her energy.
     
    Inspired by the way in which yoga cultivated strength, balance and clarity, Jessi got her RYT-200 so she could share the gifts of yoga with others.
     
    In January 2014, Jessi was certfied by Zumba Fitness and is currently pursuing her personal trainer certification through NCSF. Jessi's passion for yoga, sports, and making athletes safe and strong align perfectly with our mission at MPY.
     
    J-Mac is a content developer for the MPY online teacher training program and is the lead yoga teacher for MPY Southern California. 
     
     

    Jackelyn Ho

    HIIT
    Jackelyn eats burpees for breakfast. She's passionate about health and wellness and positive messaging to women about their bodies. Jackelyn specializes in high intensity interval training (HIIT) to increase strength and endurance in her students.
     
    Jackelyns' certifications include:
    - 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher
    - Aerobics Fitness Association
    of America
    - Fundamental Mat Pilates 
    - POUND rockout.workout
    - TRX Suspension Training
    - Turbo Kick ®
     
    Jackelyn is also a Nike Trainer and Jamba Juice ambassador. She is the HIIT content developer and a lead for MPY Teacher Trainings. 
     
     

    Dean Pohlman

    Yoga for Men Expert – MPY Austin
    Dean knows athletes because he is one himself. While playing D1 collegiate lacrosse at University of Wisconsin, Dean began practicing yoga to to increase his flexibility and endurance. He went on to become a 200 hour RYT and became a leading advocate of the yoga for men movement when he founded Man Flow Yoga, which has become a social media sensation.
     
    Dean believes that yoga is one of the best workouts a man can do and has bravely become a stigma smasher for encouraging men of all ages to get on their mats and start a yoga practice.
     
    Dean is the yoga for men and psychology of athletes content developer for the MPY teacher training program. He is also the lead yoga teacher for MPY Austin. 
     
     

    Jeannie Lee

    Injury Prevention & Anatomy
     
    Jeannie is going to tell you just what you need to know about the human body so that you feel confident about leading an MPY class. Anatomy made fun so you'll enjoy learning - that's what she's all about.
     
    A woman of many talents, Jeannie is a 200 hour RYT and a health and biology educator with emphasis in women's health, human genetics, and bone cell research.
     
    Jeannie earned her bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology and is also a Biology Scholars Program alum at the University of California, Berkeley.
     
    She has the unique ability of combining a scientific knowledge about the human body with a spiritual knowledge about yoga.
     
     
     
     

    M. Ryan Saldivar

    Breath Control & Core
     
    M. Ryan Saldivar is a true master at teaching others how to use their breath to increase physical performance and mental endurance. Ryan has trained professional boxers, MMA fighters and world class jui-jitsu fighters. He has over 2,000 hours of continued education in kinesiology, sports therapy, and completed pre-med education.
     
    Certifications include:  
    -500 hour Kundalini instruction by International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association
    -750 hour Massage Therapist Certification from National Holistic Institute
     
    Ryan is the breathwork content developer and a lead for MPY Teacher Trainings.
